Your Role in Your Case

If you have a criminal or juvenile case in Clarke or Oconee County, you should get a lawyer.

You have the RIGHT to represent yourself and for many simple cases you can talk to the prosecutor directly in court and may be able to resolve the case at that time.  But typically, it is not advisable to represent yourself.

As soon as you can, after arrest, you should try and hire a lawyer.  There are dozens of excellent criminal lawyers in private practice in the Athens area.

If you can’t hire one, you should come to our office to see if you meet the financial qualifications.  Don’t wait until the day before court please.
